Miasma is another chapter in the ever-twisted saga of The Black Dahlia Murder. Like the long-unsolved murder of a young Hollywood starlet that the band took its name from, The Black Dahlia Murder’s appeal is visceral and dark, a terror-filled exploration of extreme sounds and vicious brutality.
The Black Dahlia Murders 2005 sophomore full-length, Miasma, was the death-metal troublemakers breakthrough moment, driven by the hit music videos for singles A Vulgar Picture and Statutory Ape, both of which have amassed multimillion views on YouTube.
The album might have been polarizing at the time with some old-school death-metal fans turning up their noses at the bands association with metalcore and at their goofy sense of humor but today it stands as a modern classic within the genre.
