Overview

The revolutionary Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world’s first jet-powered aircraft to see service. The A-1a fighter version, nicknamed “Schwalbe” (Swallow), was finally put into production in late 1944. Armed with four powerful 30mm cannons and optional air-to-air rockets, it was a fearsome opponent for Allied bombers and their escorts in the closing days of WWII.
